People ask about the name.

I grew up as a young girl doing dirty jobs. What kid of my generation didn't?

When you actually had to take out the rubbish, use a water hose, and cut your own wood.

The kind of work that leaves you scraped, tired, and steady.

When you last in those spaces—when you don’t quit, complain,

or soften yourself to be more palatable—people start calling you something.

Grit.

Toughness. Longevity.

The ability to stay.

That word followed me.

I’ve used grit in my personal life to describe the way I move through the world -

how I work, endure, and keep showing up.

When I began writing and sharing poetry, the world felt like home.

My writing carries that same texture.

The words aren’t polished or loud.

They’re earned.

They come straight from the tongue—with grit.

The logo reflects that life as well:

ranching, motorcycles, firearms, and a No. 2 pencil always close by.

The tools of work.

Motion.

Protection.

And words.

That’s where the name came from.

That’s how Grit on the Tongue was born.
